This cooperative was officially founded on June 25th, 1969 and currently has 453 members (men and women growers), organized in 21 committees, with production zones located in the districts of San Ignacio, Namballe and San Jose de Lourdes.
The topography of the province is basically made by the buttresses of the western and eastern mountain ranges of the Andes and the valleys that descend from these buttresses to the Amazon basin.
The coffee is grown at altitudes ranging from 1500 to 2000 meters above sea level. They have their own dry mill 4 hours from Paita port.
Their logo is the Spectacled Bear, which is an endangered animal that lives in the forest called “The Chaupe”, around which many of these farmers have their organic farms to protect and support these important animals. This appreciated bear acts as a pollinator carrying the pollen of several plants in his thick hair.
Furthermore, when the bear finds a fruit tree it often rises and rests in the branches, opening spaces in the upper levels of the forest and providing the necessary light for germination and growth of species in the low forest. We know that protecting the fauna and flora of this region will support the ecological balance.
Their best quality of the coffee is called by the members of the coop as “The Spectacled Bear/El Oso FTO".
Please allow 2 business days for your coffee order to be roasted and shipped.
