FAVORITE COFFEE: ETHIOPIA, ARDI SIDAMA
JP Roberts was born in the bay area, where he grew up surfing in Santa Cruz, he then moved to southern California at the age of 21. Whilst surfing Newport Beach, JP found himself frequenting the infamous Russell Surfboards store where he met and became friendly with the owner and founder Bob ‘Russell’ Brown, a legend in the local area.
It wasn’t long before JP was working for Russell in retail and board repairs, then began building boards under the watchful eye of his mentor “Russ.” After the tragic passing of Russ, JP took over the business in 2011. To this day JP is still building boards from start to finish in the same glass shop for the original retail store (1967), and some of the most notorious and talented surfers in the area.
